Carabao Cup wrap: Nathan Collins stars for rampant Bees, Mason Melia helps Lincoln through

Callum Wilson scored just six minutes into his full debut and Republic of Ireland captain Nathan Collins headed home twice as Brentford hammered Birmingham City 6-1 at St Andrew’s.

Aaron Hickey, Mikkel Damsgaard and Igor Thiago were also on target for the Bees after Demarai Gray briefly cancelled out Wilson’s opener.

It continues a really good start to the campaign for Keith Andrews’ men after they hammered Tottenham 3-0 in their Premier League opener last weekend.

Mason Melia – on loan from Spurs – started for Lincoln City in their 4-1 win at Blackpool.

Former Shamrock Rovers man Josh Honohan also started for the Imps, who had to be patient before killing off the contest.

The two teams had been evenly matched through goals from Tanto Olaofe and Leighton Clarkson, before a second yellow card for Zac Ashworth.

Within three minutes of being handed a man advantage, both Tom Bayliss and Rob Street found the back of the net, with Callum Elder later adding his name to the scoresheet as well.
